With a narrow-sized lot and unpredictable weather to contend with, Hank had to carefully consider his options. What did your site look like prior to construction?
HANFF: The site for our 30 Boxwell 8′ x 12′ units was an open grass plot. It had been empty since the original site was cleared around 2003. So, it was ready for revenue-generating self-storage units!
Why did you choose Boxwell relocatables for your site?
HANFF: We based our decision to order Boxwell relocatables for our site on a number of factors. First, it was Boxwell’s pricing and speed of delivery that lured us. And it was so easy to add additional units as needed. We purchased 12 Boxwell 8 x 20 units a couple years prior, and we found that they are popular with our renters. So, basically, we decided on relocatable units to fill the supply niche. When customers ask for a particular size unit, that’s your money-maker. We listened to our customers! And lastly, the units look great with roll up Janus doors, which is our preference.

How did you decide layout, size, product mix, number of units, etc.?
HANFF: The narrow size of our plot of land really dictated the size and number of units. Plus, our local customers favor the smaller-sized unit. Thankfully Boxwell was selling the 8 x 12 units when we reached out to them. The flexibility and ease of installation of the units are both key to our operation.
How was the delivery and installation?
HANFF: The 30 Boxwell relocatable units arrived via two shipping containers over two days. We contracted Boxwell to unload, assemble and place the units on site — making it all very easy for us. The assembly crew were very professional and attentive. Thank you for that! Wet December weather did not stop this crew.
What sort of relationship have you developed with our team?

What recommendations do you have for someone building or expanding a facility?

How have the units increased your facility’s revenue?
HANFF: We needed to fill a supply niche in our area, and it was a bit overdue. We expect to recoup our expenses in under three and a half years. But it will likely be less as we adjust rental rates. It’s really been a no-brainer situation for us to add relocatables.
What feedback have your customers given?
HANFF: We have been told that our Boxwell units are ‘neat, cute, amazing, great…’ amongst other things by renters. Boxwell’s ability to match the colors of the existing buildings lets the units blend in for curb appeal, which we appreciate. And their quality is something you can see immediately.
