Every one of Boxwell’s custom storage units is built from pure innovation, ingenuity, and integrity. Our product is solid and speaks for itself. But, did you know that our best asset here at Boxwell is actually Our Team? This group of creative, witty, friendly, fun and personable go-getters is pretty darn amazing. We value the connections we have with each other + with our clients and partners, and we’re all genuinely proud of our product and our company culture. While most of us are outgoing and easy to talk with, there are some surprising elements about each team member that you may not know. We invite you to get to know us even better with our Team Spotlights. This “Inside the Box” features Strategic Account Manager, Lisa Maloney:

1. What is something about yourself that most people don’t know?

LISA: While a youngster, I spent years watching my brothers leave the house to participate in many amazing activities in the Boy Scout program. They were always hiking, camping, fishing, exploring and earning awards for doing so. The only way I participated was attending their award ceremonies and spectating at their annual Pinewood Derby. Due to this lingering feeling of being left out of so much childhood fun, I choose to become a Girl Scout Leader once my daughters were old enough to participate. I was a leader for 6 years and spent lots of time with my daughters camping, hiking, spelunking, white water rafting and enjoying many other outdoor adventures! We also sold a boat load of cookies — but it’s the memories of being outdoors that sticks in my head more than the cookies!

2. If you’re having a bad day, what helps?

LISA: Nothing helps wipe clean a bad day better than getting outdoors! Fresh air is truly a magical potion to clear the mind and refresh you in every way. If I want to unwind completely free of mind-wandering, I’ll ride my motorcycle. There isn’t anything that puts me in a state of true “mindfulness” more than riding a motorcycle. Your mind simply cannot wander.

3. Say you are forced to completely change your career, what would you choose to do instead?

LISA: Oh boy. I think being a personal financial planner would be a lot of fun! I am oddly fascinated with numbers and finances and would love teaching others how to be smart with money.  I have often said that if I went back to college I’d study accounting. On the flip side, if I could make a living farming I’d be pleased as punch spending all day out in the garden!

4. Tell us about your ideal vacation. If you can only bring a backpack for the week, what would you bring?

LISA: A trip that has been on my bucket list since I was a child is to travel to Nepal to look up at the highest mountains on earth. I am not a fan of the cold, so I won’t go to the top of Everest, but just to be there, looking up at them in a country so far from home sounds unbelievably intriguing. Now that I am older, a motorcycle trip with my husband around Europe would be amazing! For either I would carry the following in my backpack: my passport, debit card, whatever minimal clothing I would need including comfortable hiking shoes, packable puffy coat, iPhone w/international charger, Clif Bars for emergency snacks and my “Passion Planner” with colorful pens (look it up at passionplanner.com) where I keep track of all of my adventures, scheduled or not! I take that thing everywhere! I might also bring my Boxwell trucker hat so that I can send photos from around the world to my Boxwell family members!

5. When you were 10 years old, what did you imagine you’d be doing now?

LISA: When I was younger I used to say that I wanted to be a veterinarian, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that I couldn’t stand seeing animals in pain. I’m not sure I could even think far enough into the future  at 10 years old to imagine what I would be doing now. 10 years old was a long, long time ago!

6. Favorite movie?

LISA: Picking a favorite movie is incredibly difficult. I am a huge fan of musicals. As a child it was “West Side Story”. As an adult my favorite would probably be “Moulin Rouge”. I could watch both over and over and over again. My favorite filmmaker is most definitely Baz Luhrmann. I have enjoyed every movie of his!

7. Best sandwich?

LISA: Sandwich? I’m not a big sandwich person, but if all I had to eat was a sandwich, I’d pick peanut butter & banana.
