Boxwell’s story begins with Founder and CEO Rod Bolls, whose vision for more innovative, flexible storage solutions reshaping how facilities are built and expanded. With nearly two decades of industry experience, Rod saw an opportunity to create a company that combined exceptional products with exceptional service.
His philosophy is simple: deliver a superior product, support it with extensive warranties, and guide clients every step of the way. As a result, that mindset continues to define how we design, manufacture, and install our relocatable units, portable containers, hallway systems, and roll-up doors.
From the start, Rod emphasized transparency, integrity, and relationships—values that have helped transform Boxwell from a small startup into a trusted global brand.
Building the Foundation
When Boxwell launched in 2015, the goal wasn’t just to manufacture containers; it was to solve real challenges for operators.
At the time, traditional construction was slow, costly, and limited by site restrictions. Rod envisioned something better: relocatable structures that could be installed quickly, moved easily, and still look polished and permanent.
Those early years brought long days, steep learning curves, and rapid refinement as the team developed prototypes, fine-tuned assembly processes, and began shipping units across the country. Growing to Meet Demand
As orders grew, so did the need for a larger, more specialized team.
To support this growth, the sales team expanded to help more operators plan their sites with confidence. A dedicated operations team began overseeing logistics and installations, ensuring smooth, timely deliveries across new markets.
Meanwhile, the creative team began offering layout designs, renderings, and marketing support to help customers visualize what their sites could become.
Each department strengthened Boxwell’s ability to offer hands-on, personalized service—which remains one of our defining strengths today.
Adapting and Expanding
By 2018, Boxwell units were being used in an array of applications—from portable storage companies to developers seeking fast, flexible expansion. Each project highlighted what operators needed most: speed, adaptability, and dependability.
When global supply chains shifted in 2020, Boxwell brought manufacturing in-house to protect quality and timelines. This strategic move increased control and ensured that customers could continue growing without disruption.
By 2022, Boxwell expanded into Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, supported by a growing network of global distributors offering local expertise in key markets.
In 2023, Boxwell reached a new milestone: delivering complete self-storage facilities built entirely from relocatable units. Demonstrating how relocatables can scale into high-performance developments.
Most recently, in 2024, Boxwell broadened its product line with the addition of roll up doors and hallway systems, allowing operators to build cohesive, multi-level environments using a single, integrated supplier.
